CHARISMA FASHION INDIA

Hand Embroidery for Paris Designers

By the Charisma Fashion India team · Mumbai · November 6, 2026

The short answer: Charisma Fashion India is a Mumbai hand-embroidery atelier, in business since 2000, that develops and produces embroidery for Paris design houses from its Mumbai workshop. Paris houses send artwork and tech packs, our artisans develop samples by hand, and approved embroidery — panels, appliqués and embellished components — is shipped to Paris for garment making.

What our atelier makes for Paris houses

Paris sets the standard for hand embellishment, and the work our atelier produces for Paris clients is built to that standard: tambour and Lunéville-style beadwork, aari thread work, zardozi in metallic threads, cutdana and sequin setting, fine thread embroidery, and three-dimensional appliqué built petal by petal. The work spans the full range of a Paris calendar — haute couture pieces where a single garment carries days of stitching, bridal gowns with dense pearl and crystal work, and ready-to-wear embellishment that has to stay consistent from the first sample to the last production piece.

Every technique is executed in-house by our own artisans in Mumbai, which matters when a motif has to match exactly across a collection. Designers can develop a complete embroidery story with us — bodice panels, sleeves, trains, veils, belts and accessories — or bring a single hero piece. Our journal explains the core techniques in detail in our guide to beadwork techniques for couture.

Built around the Paris fashion calendar

Paris Fashion Week and the haute couture collections run on fixed dates, and embroidery sits early in that chain — a delayed swatch delays everything behind it. Our team plans development backwards from a house's fitting and show dates: artwork review first, then the sampling swatch, correction rounds, and an approved master before production frames are set. Because sampling and production happen under one roof, the artisans who stitch the approved swatch are the artisans who lead the production of that style.

We serve Paris from Mumbai — our atelier has no Paris office, and we do not claim one. What Paris houses get instead is a single named contact, updates on an agreed rhythm across the time difference, and photography at agreed stages so corrections happen on images before anything ships.

How working with our Mumbai atelier works from Paris

It begins with the swatch folder: our team shares the current sampling folder so a designer can judge hand, density and finish before committing a design. From there, the house sends artwork or a tech pack, our artisans interpret it into a sample swatch with a stated cost, corrections are marked and refined, and the approved swatch becomes the physical standard for production. Finished embroidery is checked panel by panel against that master, packed deliberately for delicate embellished work, and shipped to Paris on the house's preferred courier arrangement.

Charisma Fashion India has worked this way since 2000, with our Mumbai office coordinating production and our sales representative in Dallas, TX supporting clients across time zones. Designers in other fashion capitals work with us the same way — see how we serve Milan, or browse all the cities we serve.

Frequently asked questions

Does Charisma Fashion India have an atelier or office in Paris?
No. Our embroidery is made in our Mumbai atelier, where our artisans work, and our office is in Mumbai with a sales representative in Dallas, TX. We serve Paris houses remotely: samples and finished embroidery are shipped to Paris, and development is handled by email and scheduled calls.

What embroidery techniques does the atelier offer Paris couture houses?
Tambour and bead work, aari, zardozi, cutdana, sequin setting, thread embroidery and 3D appliqué — all executed in-house in Mumbai. Houses can develop full embroidery stories or single statement pieces across couture, bridal and ready-to-wear.

How does sampling work for a Paris house?
Our team shares the current swatch folder first. The house then sends artwork or a tech pack, our artisans stitch a sample swatch with a stated cost, and corrections are refined over as many rounds as the design needs. The approved swatch becomes the master that production is checked against.

Can the atelier work to Paris Fashion Week deadlines?
Yes — development is planned backwards from fitting and show dates, with stage-by-stage timelines agreed before sampling starts. Dense couture work takes the time it takes, and our team quotes stages honestly rather than promising a total and apologising later.
